Consider it done!

It’s over now and the world is saved from the beasts of boredom. For a while though! WF09 kicked the s*it out of winter like Tyson and helped to woke up the spring. People from near and far got their groove on and most important of all – saw some amazing live performances. And it all worked so nicely didn’t it! Citizens and other folks gave us so much positive feedback that we felt like the president of Tajikistan who’s never got any negative comment about his politics. In the VIP we heard ia that our arrangements were handled more properly than in Pori Jazz which is one of Finland’s most recognizable events in the whole Scandinavia. This was a comment that really made us feel we really succeeded quite nice. But this is no miracle. The whole festival project has been one herculean task and we never made any compromises about the quality of arrangements. This is the reason we dropped all those activities including the highly anticipated snowboarding contest and decided to concentrate on having as good bands as possible. Well planned event is almost half made but sloppily planned means total devastation as we all know it. It’s a fact too that there are always things to be made better and this is just what keeps us going. Life’s an everlasting journey of learning. (yes, that was a great example of truism :D)

Beer taps never got stuck and our food policy was familiar festival type. DE on friday and CY the day after were the bands that got the best response from the crowd that really freaked out during these gigs. We saw some of that old school crazy celebration, moshpit and other quite wicked things. The bands performed at favourable time but it’s a fact that the crowd went lunatic because the performances were so undeniably awesome and very professional like! We can easily say these same words on the behalf of our other great bands. Very special thanks to out lovely hostess Rakel too who was beautiful, nice and funny. And still is. We’d best send private thank you to our friends from Sweden, The GDT boys of course in case they forget to look this webpage.

Somewhere along the chain of information someone misinterpret something. MC Särre is not coming to Winterfest with Giant Räbät, but luckily they already have a great lineup. To make up for this mistake we posted here this cute picture.

25.01.2009 | MC Särre of Loost Koos joins Giant Räbät!

Ciao! The Winterfest did it again = got a new great artist for people to enjoy! The MC from highly and widely respected and Bassoradio Music Awards “Artist of the year 2007” Loost Koos comes also to Porvoo. The man himself, multitalented MC Särre joins and raps with the Giant Räbät posse on Saturday 7th of february. The gig was about to be dope already but now it’s so great we don’t even know what to say except this: One should not miss this one either!

22.01.2009 | Scorchio!

The Winterfest had the second pre-club event yesterday and it’s wrapped and in a sleigh now. White Flame was hard as a rock and really gave its best ever yet or so it seemed! We had a bunch of celebrities including beautiful world famous Kata Kärkkäinen which was nice. At the moment we’re hanging over but last night was to quote mr. Burns from The Simpsons - excellent.

12.01.2009 | Remu, the godfather of Winterfest!

Aloha folks! We had a little chat with one of the most notorious Finnish musicians ever, Henry ”Remu” Aaltonen. And since this great day it’s great to announce that the grandfather of our land’s rock history is now our event’s godfather! It is truly an honour to have a real rock-legend like Remu among us.

09.01.2009 | WF @ WF09 pre-Winterfest #2 - 21.1.09 klo 23-XX

BANG! Hardrock band White Flame, shortly WF, is headlining the next and the last pre-party we have for the main event. They come from Tampere (but still kick ass) to Porvoo’s Nevada. They have just recorded new material so they are in best possible shape to rock this town.

At Nevada there is also a possibility to win tickets to the Winterfest -09! Timetables tend to change so be there about eleven pm.

Buja! Now’s the time to wake up from your Christmas wonderland fellow citizens! The most hottest, greatest and the most handsome band in Finland has been booked to the Winterfest – DISCO ENSEMBLE! They will play on Friday so be quick (very quick) when booking tickets ‘cause they will sell like free liquor. Indica has been moved to saturday.

23.12.2008 | Indica, The latest and the last signed band for the festival!

"Silent night, holy night, All is calm, all is bright..." It might get a holy status one day but there will be no silence during The Winterfest! The musical part of the programme is now ready and we managed to get one more band. Hooray! It really hasn't been this easy to say farewell to the boring everyday life when the festival has acts like Indica - a real kickass band. This platinum certified rock-band just got their fourth album out so it's an honour to get these girls to Porvoo 6.2.2009. The gig's also Indica's first of the 2009-tour so you wouldn't want to miss it, would you?!

Because the Santa's already in the sky doing the biggest philanthropy trip with his noble friend Rudolph...

That’s right. It was about time to get the tickets to sale! Now you can purchase your very own WF09-ticket from Tiketti and Lippupalvelu. The price itself is veeeeeery feasible, 20€! The amount of tickets is limited so it could be wise to make sure you get your own copy as quick as possible. Finnish aphorism: Early pigeon gets the meat pie!


10.9.2008 | Music Festival in Porvoo!
What Porvoo has been missing is finally here! Festival which will rock this place into an other dimension! It’s called The Winterfest 2009 or WF09 between friends.

The Winterfest is a stunning music festival which presents also quite a few world class performers. There will be dance shows, fire performances and some awesome surprises. It’s now been arranged for the first time ever and the aim is to get this to be annual. The timing of the festival is at the darkest and coldest period of the year when usually small towns like Porvoo are sleeping. Not anymore! The second oldest town in Finland will now finally start to claim its place at the very top of finnish festivalmap. We welcome everyone from next door neighbours to foreign wanderers from far far away! ROCK ON!
